Weekend Recap and 9 Fun Things — From Devon!

Weekend Recap and 9 Fun Things — From Devon!

We finished our first week working from Devon and with the shelter in place rules still in effect, we’re planning to be here awhile longer. I am in no hurry to leave. Between the sound of birds and wind chimes, the stillness of the surrounding woods and the crisp English countryside air, we have found the escape we need for the time being.

How are you passing the time in quarantine? I find I’m spending less time on social media and more time reading, writing and drinking wine!

Here are a few links to things I came across this week:

1. If all of the home workouts, new hobbies, and productivity mantras are getting to you…

A reminder that if you brushed your teeth and fed yourself today, you’re doing a good job at this whole quarantine thing. (Matt Haig and BodyPosiPanda)

2. If you’re a perfectionist with an affinity for podcasts…

Fucking First Time (FFT) is a concept BrenĂ© Brown shares in her first episode on Unlocking Us and i’s REVOLUTIONARY.

3. If you care about what you will be wearing after Coronavirus…

You’re not alone. I spent the better part of my weekend trolling Shopbop, Revolve and MATCHESFASHION, so my Pintrest shopping list is looking strong. The dresses I found are exceptional if I do say so myself.

4. If you love Tiger King…

You’ve probably heard everyone and their brother talking about Tiger King on Netflix (Rory and I binged watched it all day yesterday, so I definitely recommend). But, have you listened to Joe Exotic: Tiger King the podcast from Wondery? Queue it up and binge-listen this week.

5. If you actually want to workout from home, but aren’t sure where to start…

Keep it simple. You don’t need loads of equipment or lots of variety. Find something that works for you. For body weight workouts, I recommend @dmirgonfit21 and @laurajulaine. For workouts that require minimal amounts of equipment: @gainsbybrains; @rachelsgoodeats; @taychayy. If you have access to a range of equipment, my preference is @madeline_moves. For feel-good live workouts, I suggest @physiojoy and @coachlouise

6. If you want nutritious comfort food…

I made this delicious bowl of savoury oats the other night and accompanied it with a big glass of wine. It was the perfect Wednesday night pick-me-up and further proof that Martha Stewart knows best.

7. If you have always been team T-Swift…

It has been declared that she was right. Rejoice.

8. If you feel anxious and don’t know what to do about it…

Illustrator Julie Houts put together a step by step series (vol.1 and vol.2) of tiny tasks you can do from home to help.

9. If you need to Laugh…

The New Yorker Cartoons

I hope you have a great week! x
