On April 15th, 2022 in the middle of a bridge in the most romantic city in the world, Rory got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. It was everything I ever wanted it to be and more — the perfect proposal — though I must admit I have almost no idea what he actually said. I think the words sort of tumbled out of his mouth while my brain went into overdrive just entirely overwhelmed in that moment. You can read a little bit more about what happened in the minutes leading up to the proposal here, but I ended up taking the ring out of the box and putting it on myself!
Our photographer and videographer must have had a bit of laugh, but I couldn’t help but reach for it as I said yes. It was genuinely the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen being handed to me by the only man I’ve ever wanted to spend the rest of my life with… What else was I meant to do?!
To say it was the happiest moment my life — and of our life together thus far — doesn’t begin to explain how it felt. So here are some photos and videos of the whole beautiful experience and the blissful minutes that followed. For recommendations about where to stay, what to eat and what to see in Venice, read my city guide.
And they lived happily ever after…
I’m so excited to start wedding planning. Send me all your tips and if you’ve been to any weddings in Tuscany, PLEASE let me know. I’m on the hunt for wedding venues! x
It goes without saying, but Serena and Sergio who shot our engagement day are so incredibly talented. We had the best experience working with them and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a wedding/engagement photographer and videographer.
